The recent Calypso Partners Day was more than a networking event — it was a convergence point for the major actors shaping the future of secure and interoperable transport ticketing systems in Europe. SPAC Alliance was proud to participate and present its vision for bridging cybersecurity and transport technologies.

A Shared Vision for Secure and Open Mobility

Held under the banner of innovation and collaboration, the event marked the recent cross-membership between SPAC Alliance and the Calypso Networks Association (CNA). Mickaël Wajnglas, representing SPAC Alliance, shared insights on current challenges and future ambitions in the ecosystem, notably around the topics of hybrid attacks, NIS2 compliance, and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

  • Introducing SPAC to the Ticketing Ecosystem: The event offered a platform to present SPAC’s mission of securing physical access control and transport systems across Europe.
  • Addressing the Latest Threats: A focus was placed on hybrid cybersecurity threats and the need for coordinated resilience strategies.
  • Regulatory Alignment: Discussion around how SPAC is helping members adapt to the evolving regulatory landscape, particularly with NIS2 and the CRA.
  • Advancing Interoperability Through SSCP: A joint commitment was underlined to promote the SSCP standard, a European communication protocol bridging security between access control and transport applications.
  • Strengthening European Sovereignty: Through open, standardized, and secure technologies, both SPAC and Calypso aim to reinforce Europe’s strategic autonomy in digital infrastructure.

A Record Year for Calypso and Its Partners

This collaboration comes at a moment of strength for CNA. According to its 2024 report, Calypso experienced:

  • A record-breaking 2023, with a significant rise in adoption across global transport networks.
  • Expanded presence in Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East, reflecting the global relevance of the standard.
  • Growing success of open-source tools and SDKs that facilitate faster and more flexible integration.
  • A strong push for multi-application cards, aligning with SPAC’s vision of unifying transport and access control under one secure framework.

This event is a stepping stone in SPAC Alliance’s ongoing mission to bring together stakeholders from different sectors to build a safer, more connected, and future-ready mobility ecosystem.

Building links between Members

At the heart of SPAC Alliance is the ambition to foster strong connections between its members in order to drive smart and sustainable innovation. A goal perfectly illustrated by the participation of STid and SpringCard in this Calypso Partners Day!
